5 benefits of being an early riser

Image result for early riser

Scientists found a fact that early birds are more successful than night owls. This result backs an ancient saying "Early bird catches the worm".

We all feel like, we were stuck to bed by an invisible force every morning. We do like the feeling and succumb to bed happily but there would be days in our past, we feel like slobs when we wake up at noons. May be our sleep was satisfactory or our dream might be pleasant.

But being as an early bird has some benefits which were proven scientifically. Check out some of them here:

1) Can get better grades

A researcher Daniel J. Taylor, PhD, an assistant professor of psychology conducted an experiment on students at University of North Texas in Denton and found an interesting result that the more of a morning person you are the more likely you are to have a higher GPA (Grade Point Average). Early birds had an average GPA that was a full point higher than night owls: 3.5 vs 2.5.

2) Can be happy

Studies show that mostly older adults tend to be "larks" (Morning types). They display better moods than younger adults. So shifting towards more morningness, whether you are young or adult may have positive emotional benefit.

Generally, night owls (evening types) are prone to social jet lag. This means, their routine goes out of sync with social activities.

3) Can be healthy

Early risers lead a healthier life than night owls. They get that extra hour to work on their shape daily. They burn out those calories before the family is awake and far before their office work begins.

This exercise in the early morning keeps them fit and active throughout the day. Daily workouts helps in boosting the moods and keeps up the energy for the remaining day.

4) Can be more productive

A quiet hour in the morning without any disturbances, before everyone is out of their bed can give marvelous outputs. Working at that time gives you command on your working style. Morning people feel confident in making things happen. The level of focus in that uninterrupted hour in the morning is high.

Harvard biologist Christoph Randler discovered in 2008 that early risers are more pro-active at their work. They were more likely to agree with statements like "I spend time identifying long range goals for myself." and "I feel in charge of making things happen."

5) Can be optimistic

Early birds are more likely to exhibit characters like optimism, satisfaction, conscientiousness. Night owls those linked with creativity and intelligence, are more likely to display traits as depression, pessimism and neurotic behavior. Younger adults those who shift from evening people to morning as they grow older had left their neurotic behavior.

So, being an early riser makes a person healthy, wealthy and successful.

*  Whichever the sleep routine works for you, go for it but as said above, you have an extra edge when you are an early riser.
